Treating the Child
Children's health, by its very nature can often be worrying.  They are vulnerable and may not be able to communicate their discomfort accurately especially when they are very tiny. There are times when antibiotics or other prescription medicines may be necessary but there are many occasions when a natural form of treatment could be used.  In recent years acupuncture has been given more and more media coverage and many people are now turning to this ancient system of healing for help.  However it may not be so well know that acupuncture can be very helpful in the treatment of children's symptoms and illnesses.

Asthma, eczema, tonsillitis, nasal congestion and sinusitis, hayfever and other allergies, adenoid symptoms together with many others, are among the problems which respond well to acupuncture.

Needles are not generally inserted until the child reaches the age of seven or eight.  Instead the acupuncture points are massaged with a blunt-nosed, sterile glass wand.  As their bodies are so young and dynamic, treatment will often produce results fairly quickly with none of the side effects that prescription medicines can sometimes produce.

Before any treatment is given a full case history will be taken and a carefull pulse diagnosis will be made.
